Arrested in Achna for gun possession

BRITISH bases police on Wednesday arrested a 42-year-old man in Achna village, near Famagusta, after guns and jewellery were found on his property.

Acting on a tip off, officers searched the man’s home in Dasaki where they found three guns, a shotgun and two air rifles.

Frozen birds were found in his freezer which police were waiting to defrost to see if they were songbirds (ambelopoulia).

In his car, police found handcuffs and a quantity of jewellery which has been sent for examination.

He was charged in writing and released and summoned to appear in court at a later date.
