Ten thousand new voters

A total of 10,473 new people registered to vote in the presidential elections slated for the end of January in 2018, it was announced on Tuesday.

Those eligible to register amount to 40,000, head of the election service Demetris Demetriou described as “disappointingly low”. The deadline for registering was on Monday.

Demetriou added those registered abroad were 12,517.

Voting stations will be available in Greece (Athens, Volos, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Komotini, Larisa, Patra, Rethimno) the UK (Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol) as well as in Berlin, Venice, Brussels, Manama, New York, Dubai, Doha, Paris, Prague, Riyadh, Sofia, Stockholm and The Hague.

Anyone registered to vote that wants to cast a ballot in any other city must inform the election service by December 31 by fax on 22 678486 or at [email protected] with their full name, ID number, the original city they registered to vote in and the new city they want to register under.
