How do you rate your happiness and how important is it in your life? Do you dedicate time to things that bring you joy and do you even know what makes you happy?
The upcoming inspiring talks by TEDx Limassol come to challenge the Cypriot audience, urge them to reflect, motivate and take action. In true TEDx spirit, the Limassol hub has organised a full day event with of inspirational speeches, ready to exchange ideas and spark dialogue.
This edition’s theme is the topic of happiness; one that is shared, taken for granted and at times even neglected. Explore the spectrum of this sought-out emotion and state of mind on November 10 and get ready for some refreshing food for though that today’s society greatly needs.
The TEDx Limassol team feels that “the strongest of human motivations should be that of being happy. It is happiness that needs to be what drives the precious little time we have on this planet. As a unit of analysis happiness spans across numerous disciplines. From neuroscience to positive psychology, and from philosophy to political science, happiness is fast becoming the currency of contemporary life”.
Still, there is a concerning reality that needs to be addressed in more detail – as our overall standard of living improves, levels of happiness remain relatively constant demonstrating that regardless of geography, gender, age and economic class, happiness is a mystery to many.
TEDxLimassol will bring to stage nine speakers and three performers who will share their stories around the concept of happiness. By doing so TEDxLimassol hopes to play its part in solving the happiness puzzle.
Staying within the essence of TED, the 2018 theme reflects the movement’s core objectives; to democratise knowledge and science, to stimulate and arouse audiences around the world and to spark deep discussion and connection.
Casper Rongsted and Kasper Myding will give a talk on the world’s best Nordic schools, Petros Dokos and Costa Krinos will discuss ancient memes, Micaela Birmingham will give a personal account of ‘losing her mind and finding her soul’, while Eudokia Demetriou will share how she saves herself by helping others. Joining the speakers is Alexia Barrable with her speech on the 100 days that changed her life, Isabella Clegg on how animals can teach us to be happier and Thomas Xenopoulos Peccini on setting the table for happiness.
Sharing the stage with the speakers are four artists who will add an artistic flair to the day and present their take on the topic through other means of expression. The creatives include vocalist Andre Christou, painter Loucas Agrotis, dancer and acrobat Tjom Palmer and the collective Mr Pacman & Friends.
Mark your calendars for a truly TED experience.
