President Nicos Anastasiades and a delegation of ruling Disy, headed by its president Averof Neophytou, will participate in the European People’s Party (EPP)’s 25th Congress on Wednesday and Thursday in Helsinki, Finland.

The Congress will elect the EPP’s European Commission candidate for president and will focus on preparations for the 2019 European elections.

The congress is co-hosted by the leader of Finland’s Kokoomus party Petteri Orpo, EPP President Joseph Daul and EPP Secretary General Antonio Lopez-Isturiz.

On Wednesday a debate between Stubb and Weber will take place, while the two candidates will also deliver speeches on Thursday. Among the speakers at the congress on Thursday is President Anastasiades.

According to the programme of the Congress, voting will take place on Thursday morning and the result will be announced at lunchtime.
