Coronavirus: two new cases announced on Friday (Updated)

Two new coronavirus cases were reported by the health ministry on Friday, bringing the total to 960.

The ministry said one case arose from 136 tests on repatriated individuals, and the other from 295 tests conducted on private initiative.

In total the ministry received results from 1,836 tests on Friday including 226 on restaurant workers, hairdressers, and aestheticians, which came back negative.

Also negative were 802 tests conducted in schools, two from retail and construction workers, 188 from state hospital laboratories, 46 from vulnerable groups, and 141 from contact tracing of previously confirmed cases.

Four people are in hospital at Famagusta General, the reference hospital.

Three more patients are in intensive care at Nicosia General’s intensive care.
