Adrianne Lenker: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

In this video, Adrianne Lenker’s camper trailer home, parked somewhere in Joshua Tree National Park, serves as the setting for the five songs she performs for her Tiny Desk concert. The tracks are all from her latest album, ‘songs’, which was written during a stay at a wooden cabin in Massachusetts.

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (home) concerts bring netizens performances from across the world, in a stripped-down, intimate setting.

Lenker came to prominence as the singer and songwriter on Big Thief’s electric debut album, ‘Masterpiece’, in 2016, and most recently released two solo albums in 2020, one titled ‘songs’ and the other ‘instrumentals’.

Those albums rely on nothing more than an acoustic guitar, her vocals, and the insects, birds, and creatures captured while recording. Her yearning voice, simultaneously frail and strong, draws inspiration from people, everyday life, everyday death, and ordinary places.
