2021 Emmy noms: frontrunners, snubs and surprises

Announced by father-daughter acting duo Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones on Tuesday, this year’s batch of Emmy nominees featured frontrunners, snubs and surprises across categories.

‘The Crown’ and ‘The Mandalorian’ led the pack, tying with a total of 24 nominations each, while, Apple TV+’s ‘Ted Lasso’ scored 20 nominations, making it the most-nominated comedy of the year and the most-nominated debut comedy series in history.

Shows and performers passed over included ‘Girls5Eva’, as well as the likes of Nicole Kidman for ‘The Undoing’ and Pedro Pascal for ‘The Mandalorian’.

Surprises included comedy series noms for Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’ and ‘Emily in Paris’ and a drama series nomination for Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’.

The 73rd Emmy Awards will be presented on Sunday, September 19.
