New group exhibition Emotionscapes to open

Exhibit8 gallery in Limassol presents Emotionscapes, a new group art exhibition that will run from January 13 to February 4. Nineteen artists from Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine and Poland exhibit works of painting, sculpture, photography, digital art and installation.

Emotionscapes, or emotional landscapes, emerge from the bodies of humans and animals, from colours, objects, places, cinematic figures and digital symbols. Subjective experiences that are at the same time shared and collective.

The exhibition presents a discussion on emotion as an agency negotiating the boundaries between the individual and the common. The point of departure is Raymond William’s concept of ‘structures of feeling’ that stretches the contribution of present experience in the making of culture and at the same time highlights the social nature of the subjective.

Works of art exist within this tension. Art overturns the dichotomy between personal and public as emotion is always present; in the form of inspiration and motive, as a medium of expression and representation and as a message with potentially unlimited recipients.

The opening event of the exhibition will be held on January 13 by the internationally acclaimed photographer Danila Parniouk. Curating the exhibition is Eleanna Avouri while Sonia Photiou leads the art direction.

Participating in the exhibition are the artists Elena Adamou, Tatjana Avguceviča, Fanos Avouris, Myrto Christodoulou, Alexander Dadaev, Renos Efesopoulos, Elena Gregoriou , Anna Gulina, Marina Hadjiefthimiou, Christos Kakoulli, Anastasia Kolesnichenko, Anastasiia Kovalova, Iryna Manukovska, George Moyseos, Evita Petrou, Anastasia Potekhina, Alexander Radtke, Elias Theodorou and Oksana Zausaeva.
