As part of a new Europol ‘postcard’ campaign, Cyprus police are urging Ivan Milovanovic, wanted since 2012 for armed robberies, to return to the island.
The postcard is one of 21 that feature in Europol’s five-day campaign, launched on Friday, to remind members of the public across Europe of the faces of wanted people, and helping secure information that could lead to their arrest.
Each of the 21 postcards features one suspect wanted by one of the Europol members with a message best suited to them, according to the offence they are connected with.
In the Cyprus postcard, the local police invite Milovanovic, 42, – a member of the Pink Panther crime ring – “back to Aphrodite’s island”.
“The beach is full of oysters, pearls and us waiting for you,” the postcard said.
Milovanovic who is from Serbia, was matched with DNA to three different cases concerning armed robbery in a jewellery shop, and attempted robbery and possession of robbery equipment, which were committed in Cyprus in 2012.
In Europol’s most wanted list are also 49-year-old Aleks Burreli from Albania in connection with the Ayia Napa gangland shooting last year and Norwegian national, Leif Torkel Grimsrud, 49, who abducted his four-year-old daughter in April.
