The famous clothing store Gap is finally coming to Cyprus with the opening planned for November in Limassol’s My Mall.
The Azadea Group announced last week that it had acquired the franchise rights to distribute the Gap brand in Cyprus and will open a new Gap store in My Mall.
Commenting on the deal, Said Daher, Chief Executive of Azadea Group Holding SAL said: “We are proud to be partnering up with Gap Inc. for the operation of Gap’s franchise store in Cyprus. We strongly believe in this global brand and trust that the potential for growth and profitability in this market and beyond, is far from being tapped. We are eager to deliver an exceptional shopping experience to the customers in Cyprus.”
Gap’s opening may come as somewhat of a surprise following the announcement earlier this week that Louis Vuitton’s store in Nicosia was closing down. There had been rumours that Swedish clothing store H&M was planning on opening in Nicosia but they were unfounded.
Today, Gap Inc. is a leading international specialty retailer with six brands which include Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy, with over 3,400 stores and 136,000 employees worldwide.
The company is growing globally, and just within the last few years, they opened their first stores in China and Italy. They are also expanding online shopping to customers. Currently, customers in about 90 countries can buy the company’s products.
“While many things have changed since 1969, the principles on which we were founded have stayed the same: creativity, delivering results, doing what’s right and always thinking of our customers first,” a statement on their website said.
