Man and his dog rescued at sea

A 39-year-old man and his two dogs were rescued on Sunday by the Cyprus port and marine police after they were found stranded at sea in a speedboat near the Latsi port, police said.

According to police, the 39-year-old man went out to sea at around 7pm on Sunday accompanied by his two dogs. At some point when he was three nautical miles away from the port, one of the dogs fell overboard and the man jumped out to save it but couldn’t get back on his boat and it started to drift away.

At 8.05pm the man was spotted by a cruise ship in the water, calling for help. The Coast Guard picked up  both him and his dog  at 8.15pm and found the other dog still in the boat. The boat was found half a nautical away from where the man jumped to save his dog.

The 39-year-old was safely accompanied back to the Latsi port by the Coast Guard.
