Eighteen refugees located in Kiti area

Eighteen refugees of African and Asian origin were arrested yesterday evening and detained by police on charges of illegal entry into the territory of the Republic.

The eighteen refugees were located last night at around ten by members of the Kiti police force in Kiti Mazotos.

They were taken to the Kiti Police station where they were questioned and their details confirmed. The eighteen refugees were charged with illegal entry into the Republic.

Fifteen were transferred to the Aradippou police station where they were detained while two were sent to the Kofinou police station and one to the Oroklini police station.

According to police reports the refugee boat that arrived at around 8:30 Saturday evening carried a total of fifty refugees. Police are continuing their search for the remaining thirty two refugees.
