A couple, 52 and 48, their 23-year-old son, and two other men, were remanded in custody in Limassol on Tuesday on suspicion of possession of around eight kilogrammes of cannabis and 25 cannabis plants.

Police said they were also seeking the couple’s oldest son, 29, in connection with the case.

The couple and their son told police they knew nothing about the drugs, which were found in their home on Monday.

One of the other two suspects, 29 and 24, who were found in a shed in the rear of the house processing a kilo of cannabis, claimed he had been following instructions but did not name his boss. The two suspects are friends with both the family’s sons.

The house was raided by the drug squad after a tip off.

During the search, police found 25 plants measuring between 10 and 60 centimetres. Inside a wooden box officers found seven packages containing one kilo of the drug each.

Reports said 30 grammes of cannabis were found in the couple’s bedroom. An additional 30 grammes were found outside, apparently thrown out a window.

Authorities said they were trying to determine the origin of the drugs.
