Fire in Ayia Napa hotel

Two Ayia Napa hotel employees were transferred to hospital early Wednesday with respiratory problems after fire broke out at the Margadina Annex hotel.

The fire service said it was alerted at around 2.50am that fire had broken out at the hotel and sent two trucks. The service said the fire had broken out at the electricity distribution box, located in an electricity authority (EAC) room within the hotel. The fire was put out an hour later.

The two hotel employees were transferred to a nearby clinic with respiratory problems, but there was no need to evacuate the hotel, the fire service said.
