Car and home damaged by explosion in Nicosia

Nicosia police were kept busy early Monday when a car and an adjacent house were damaged by an improvised bomb which exploded at dawn, while in a separate incident a shot was fired at a house.

The 45-year-old owner of the vehicle reported it was targeted at 4.20am while in the parking space of his house.

Police, who visited the scene and conducted an investigation found a home-made pipe bomb with a low-powered explosive charge was responsible for the explosion which resulted both in damaging the car extensively as well as a neighbour’s house.

A couple of hours earlier police were informed of a shot fired at a residence. On visiting the scene and carrying out tests, it was ascertained that a shotgun caused the damage to the glass door of the house.
