Two arrested for theft from pharmacy

Police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, foreign nationals who live in Dherynia, in connection with the theft of €29,000 from an Ayia Napa pharmacy.

The theft was reported on Tuesday by the pharmacy’s 49-year-old owner who told police the money was in a bag under the counter. The shop was open at the time and three employees were on duty. Police said they appear not to have not noticed the theft taking place.

Footage from surveillance cameras show the pair walking into the pharmacy through the side door at around 8am on Tuesday. The man, who had his face covered walked behind the counter and took the bag, and the duo left through the same door.

Police issued arrest warrants against the two after securing testimonies implicating them in the case.
