Man arrested for child pornography

Following a tip of from Europol, police in Nicosia detained a man in connection with possession of child pornography, the second such arrest in as many days, police said Friday.

“Police are investigating a new case of child pornography, this time in Nicosia. To facilitate investigations a 46-year-old Nicosia resident was arrested and detained.”

“The investigation of the case began following information received through EUROPOL, that the holder of a certain electronic address appeared to be sending, through a social network website, files containing child pornographic material.”

Police said following investigations carried out, testimony was secured implicating the 46-year-old, which led to the issuing of a search warrant, executed at the man’s residence.

“During the search, a computer, a mobile phone, and three data storage devices were found and confiscated as evidence.” They were all sent for forensic examinations.
