Body of woman found floating in sea still unidentified

The body of a woman aged around 60 who was found floating unconscious off McKenzie beach in Larnaca on July 16 remains at the Larnaca general hospital morgue as she has yet to be identified, it was reported on Tuesday.

The woman was found floating motionless in the sea off Piale Pasha area in Larnaca at around 6.30am. She was rushed to hospital where her death was confirmed.

Police have not been successful so far in identifying her, while no one reported her disappearance.

Officers searched thoroughly the area near where the woman was located – apartments, restaurants, cafés – in the hope of finding a bag or other items she might have been carrying that day. It is believed that she had walked to the beach and left her belongings somewhere before entering the sea.
