Horse goes on suburban adventure in Nicosia

A horse which apparently escaped from its enclosure at the Nicosia racetrack roamed the capital’s suburbs for a while before it was caught on Monday.

Police tweeted a warning early on Monday morning for drivers in Archangelos, Lakatamia, to be careful because a horse was loose in the area.

They tweeted around an hour later that the horse was caught in Strovolos.

The horse, which apparently broke the door of its enclosure at the Ayios Dhometios racetrack, was located at around 8.30am, on Eleonon Avenue, in Strovolos and was picked up by its owner.

The horse was safe and sound and no accidents were reported, police said.

It was not known when exactly the horse escaped its enclosure and how long it was out and about.

“We were informed early in the morning and we located it some two hours later, it may have been out the entire night,” police told the Cyprus Mail.
