Substation knocked out in north, 28 villages without power

Lightning has incapacitated a power substation in the north leaving 28 villages without electricity, reports said on Thursday.

Citing a power company official, reports said the damage to the station at Lefkoniko was severe and no one could say when the problem would be repaired.

Most of the affected villages were in the Famagusta area.
