Peanuts: how to avoid their carcinogenic threat

This video is meant to expand your general knowledge about living a healthy life and is NOT a substitute for seeking medical advice. Please consult with your doctor before making changes in your health practices, diet and self-care.

In this video, Dr. Eric Berg, a chiropractor who specialises in healthy ketosis and Intermittent Fasting, covers what you need to know about the most carcinogenic nut of all… the peanut.

Of course, peanuts are not actually nuts – they’re legumes or beans. (The most carcinogenic nut is technically the walnut.) But the focus of this video is peanuts and their effect on our health.

Keep in mind that peanut shells are softer and more porous than other nutshells, and they can absorb more things from the soil. Which means there are two problems with this legume:

  1. They’re susceptible to getting a fungus. This fungus gives off a toxin – aflatoxin – that’s poisonous, which could potentially lead to gallbladder or liver cancer.
  2. Peanut plants are heavily sprayed with chemicals.

So… if you’re a peanut addict, what should you do?

One simple solution is to consume organic peanuts, suggests Dr. Berg. Meanwhile, Valencia peanuts may not have the same problems with toxins and chemicals, and celery, carrots and parsley may help reduce the carcinogenic effect of the toxins.
