Coronavirus: Three deaths and 852 cases on Sunday (Updated)

Three deaths and 852 coronavirus cases were announced on Sunday.

The deaths concern three men aged 62, 65 and 92. The 65-year-old man had received the first dose of a vaccine. The other two were not vaccinated.

There are 271 covid patients in state hospitals, 67 of whom in serious condition. Of these, 32 are intubated.

The new cases were detected among 59,042 tests, PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 1.44 per cent. They concern 151 cases detected during contact tracing, 118 people who got PCR tests privately, two people who were found positive through referrals for testing by physicians or through testing among special groups, and 30 cases found positive among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

Six people were found positive during testing at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another six people were found positive after getting rapid tests in private labs, while 539 cases were detected during the rapid tests carried out on behalf of the health ministry.

In Nicosia 228 cases were found with a positivity rate of 1.05 per cent, 126 in Limassol (0.88 per cent), 117 in Larnaca (1.40 per cent), 41 in Paphos (0.94 per cent) and 21 in the Famagusta district (0.70 per cent). Five cases were found in the National Guard and one during testing among athletes.

The total number of cases so far is 56,259.

So far, 291 people died of Covid-19: 192 men and 99 women with an average age of 78 years.
