The vaccination portal will reopen on Friday for 36–39-year-olds, the health ministry said on Thursday, announcing that almost 51 per cent of the population has received a jab.

Members of the public aged between 36 and 39 who did not get a chance to book a vaccine appointment the first time around will be able to book between 7.30 on Friday morning and 5.30 on Saturday afternoon.

Vaccinations are going strong in all districts with the goal of immunising 65 per cent of the population by the end of June.

As of May 26, the ministry administered 560,664 jabs, corresponding to 64.01 vaccinations per 100 inhabitants. This ranks Cyprus third among European member states.

According to the ministry, 50.9 per cent of the population (376,676 people) have received their first dose of the anti-coronavirus vaccine, with 24.9 per cent (183,988 people) fully vaccinated.
