Man drowns while fishing

A 24-year-old man drowned on Monday while fishing off the coast at Lady’s Mile in Limassol, police said.

Christodoulos Kosti, from Episkopi, had been spearfishing with four friends using a boat, authorities said.

At around 8am, his friends found Kiteos unconscious shortly after he had dived into the water.

He was rushed to the British bases hospital at Akrotiri where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A port mortem is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
