Travel warning for Thailand

The Foreign Ministry has issued travel advice for citizens of Cyprus who are either permanent residents of or intend to visit Thailand.

According to the advice,  Cypriot citizens who are either permanent residents or intend to travel to Thailand “are advised to avoid all but essential travel in certain areas in the country, where mass gatherings and demonstrations may be taking place”.

“Political demonstrations are taking place in parts of Bangkok and have spread to other parts of the country, including the tourist island of Phuket,” said the ministry.

Cypriot citizens visiting Thailand are advised to monitor news reports (international and local) for any developments, and follow the instructions of the local authorities.
