Limassol clubs torched

Two Limassol clubs, Dizzy Bizzy and Senso Sesto, were damaged by fire on Thursday night, which authorities said was set deliberately.

Residents saw smoke coming from the two clubs –which are adjacent and have the same owner — at around 10pm and immediately notified the fire service.

It is understood that both establishments are closed at the moment for refurbishment.

Limassol police spokesman Ioannis Soteriades said five fire engines rushed to the scene and managed to put out the fire before it could spread to nearby houses.

The blaze caused extensive damage to both clubs.

The road outside was cut off by police for an hour while investigators scoured the scene for clues.

Fire service investigators determined that the fire was set deliberately using flammable material.

Meanwhile, Nicosia police were looking into a hand-grenade explosion outside a shop in Arhangelos.

The incident took place at1.45am, police said, and it appeared that a fragmentation grenade had been thrown at the shop’s entrance.

The blast caused damage to the window, the walls, and two cars parked outside the building.
