Arrests over €250,000 fraud

A couple from Avgorou was arrested on Monday in connection with a fraud amounting to more than €250,000.

The man aged 71 and his 72-year-old wife were arrested under a European arrest warrant and are expected to be extradited to Greece.

The couple, wanted by Greek authorities for fraud amounting to €257,640 appeared before Famagusta court on Monday.

The case was postponed until March 31 and the couple was released after their travel documents were seized and they signed a solvency guarantee for €50,000 each.
