Four-year-old allegedly abducted by mother, taken to Romania

A four-year-old child from Kiti was allegedly abducted by her 36-year-old mother and taken to Romania.

The 32-year-old father who has joint custody reported to police on Tuesday afternoon that he gave permission to his former wife and their little daughter to spend the Easter holidays in Bucharest on April 29.

According to the complainant she left the country with the child and on May 1 she informed her ex-husband that she will not return to Cyprus and the two of them will remain in Romania.

She also allegedly told him not to go to Romania because she would not let him see the child.

Kiti police is investigating.

If there is a case against the woman a European arrest warrant will be issued.
