Nicosia bus drivers to receive training in how to assist disabled

DRIVERS of Nicosia buses will be trained in how to assist people in wheelchairs during a programme to be held on Wednesday.

The bus drivers from OSEL will receive instructions from members of the Cyprus paraplegic association OPAK at 5pm at the bus station next to the Makarios Stadium in Nicosia.

“It will be practical and experiential training for boarding with wheelchairs,” an OSEL announcement said. “Drivers will implement accessibility and security matters for the boarding of disabled people based on the specifications of the relevant European and national regulations.”

Bus drivers are also going to be told about additional arrangements for the use of buses by the disabled.
