Europol launches wanted criminals advent calendar

The Ayia Napa restaurant where Kalopsidiotis was gunned down

The EU’s police agency Europol, has launched an unusual online version of an advent calendar for Christmas listing the most

wanted fugitives in Europe.

“More than 60 criminals appear on the Europe’s Most Wanted fugitives list. Murderers, kidnappers, terrorists, drugs traffickers, all of
them convicted or suspected of extremely serious crimes,” the agency said in a statement.

It appealed to Europeans for their help to find them in order to make the EU a safer place for its citizens.

The calendar includes Albanian national Aleks Burreli, wanted in Cyprus in connection with killing three people — businessman Phanos Kalopsidiotis, along with police officer Elias Hadjiefthimiou and his wife Skevi — in an Ayia Napa restaurant in June this year.

“All of these criminals are on the run, fleeing from responsibility and punishment. This makes it difficult for their victims, their friends and relatives to find closure. Let’s help them and make everyone’s festive season safer by locking these criminals up before the holidays begin,” Europol said.
