Cybc veteran sports journalist dies

REVERED veteran sports journalist at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation Andreas Georgiades, with dozens of international-event broadcasts under his belt, died on Friday, at the age of 80.

Georgiades was a physical education teacher, as well as a basketball and track coach.

Having covered the Olympic Games and various classical sports meetings for over four decades, from 1971 to 2012, he rose to prominence and gained fame by anchoring sporting events at CyBC.

He served on the boards of the union of sports journalists, the Cyprus Sports Organisation, the gymnastics federation, and the track-and-field committee of the Cyprus Olympic Association.
