Woman arrested for possessing cannabis

A 51-year-old Larnaca woman was arrested for possession of cannabis on Friday afternoon, a police report said.

According to the report, around 5:40pm Friday, the drug squad cut off a vehicle driven by the 51-year-old for a check.

She was found in possession of a plastic bag containing 29 grams of cannabis and a pair of precision scales, on which there were traces of cannabis.

The woman was arrested and a search of her home produced half a gram of cannabis and two more half-smoked cigarettes containing cannabis.

All items were seized by the drug squad as evidence and the woman was detained pending a remand hearing on Saturday.
