Paphos fire is likely arson

The fire department said on Thursday that a fire raging in the Tsada area, Paphos, was likely a malicious act.

Firefighers, as well as helicopters and aircraft, were deployed to put out the fire which broke out around 3.30pm.

A fire department spokesman said that so far the blaze has burned around four hectares of wild vegetation.

Authorities suspect foul play, as the fire broke out on three different fronts.

By later in the afternoon, firefighting units had managed to contain one of the fronts.
