Pensioner dies in hospital after car accident

An elderly woman, Anastasia Louca from Paphos, died on Monday evening after being injured in an accident earlier in the day in Paphos.

The accident happened in the afternoon, when Louca, 81, from Paphos, was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, 86, on Gregori Afxentiou Street.

Their vehicle collided with a car driven by a 45-year-old man, and both cars crashed into a third vehicle the driver of which was a woman aged 41.

All people involved were injured and taken to Paphos general hospital.

The 86-year-old man and the 41-year-old woman were treated for minor injuries and released while the 45-year-old man was detained in hospital as a precaution.

Anastasia Louca was diagnosed with a broken thigh and a collapsed lung and had surgery.

She died of her wounds in the intensive care unit of the hospital at around 10.30pm.
