Police arrest two men, seize cannabis

The Famagusta drug squad on Monday arrested two persons and seized cannabis, money and tools during a coordinated operation which was carried out from noon until late in the afternoon in the district.

As part of the operation officers searched seven homes, other premises and a vehicle.

In the home of a 26-year-old man they found €5.500, a number of cheques totalling €33,000, a precision scale, four firecrackers and cannabis weighing 270 grammes. The suspect was arrested.

In a warehouse in the Famagusta district, the officers discovered tools used for drying cannabis as well as 30 grammes of cannabis.

They arrested a 38-year-old man after they found the keys to the warehouse and traces of cannabis in his car.

A small amount of cannabis was found in the home of another 38-year-old man. He was charged and released pending his appearance before the district court.
