Tourists arrested for entering north illegally released

Two British citizens, a man, 21, and a woman, 28, who were arrested by Turkish Cypriot authorities on Friday afternoon after entering the occupied areas by sea while in the Kapparis beach area were released later in the evening.

They had rented a speedboat in Kapparis and after entering the occupied areas, they were intercepted by a marine police boat that led them to Famagusta port.

After being questioned they were released and were able to return to the government-controlled areas with their boat.
