Plans for hospital and rehabilitation centre in Engomi

Interest has been expressed in the construction of a large rehabilitation and hospital care centre in Engomi near the Nicosia state fair, Engomi municipality announced on Thursday.

It said the municipal council had unanimously agreed during its last meeting to back the construction of the centre in plots of land located west of the International State Fair (opposite the offices of the Cyprus Sports Organisation).

The archbishopric-owned prime real-estate plots slated for the proposed development have a total area of 96,500 square metres.

The proposed development concerns a complex that will include medical practice offices, operating theatres, patient waiting areas, an accident and emergency department, patient wards, intensive care unit, endoscopy, dialysis, cardiology departments but also hydromassage and physiotherapy facilities. It also provides for 349 parking spaces.

According to the municipality, 20 per cent of the development area will be allocated for the creation of public green spaces, squares, or community facilities.

The Cyprus Mail has learned that the project is still at the preliminary stage since the investors will have to first prepare a series of studies and obtain permissions for the development from the department of town planning and the Engomi municipality.
