A new venture in Paphos brings together music enthusiasts, artists and venues to provide a series of quality live music events after a seriously dry period. The Paphos Sessions is a collaboration between the Paphos Music Lovers Association and the Hogshead Pub in Emba bringing weekly live afternoon music events for €15 by some of the island’s most respected musical ensembles. Next on the agenda is the acclaimed local band The Zilla Project.

Bringing their characteristic energetic blues-rock sound, the four musicians will perform at the Hogshead Pub on April 4 at 5pm, playing songs from their debut album This One’s for the President as well as their unique versions of Blues classics.

The following week will leave blues behind as the Miaris Trio will play jazz standards and bebop melodies at the pub. Dimitris Miaris, Irineos Koullouras and Marios Spyrou will perform jazzy sounds on April 11, inspired by the masters of bebop style like Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie and others.

Sunday 18 will be all about rumba, flamenco and Bossanova sounds. Well-known band Rumba Attack featuring Constantinos Lyras, Memnon Arestis and Savvas Thoma is famous for their original instrumental compositions as well as select covers, in their distinctive Flamenco-Rumba style, blended with sounds from Greece, Middle Eastern origins and Bossanova.

The final live music performance of the Paphos Sessions series will transport audiences to charming Parisian cafes and jazz bars. Avant Tout Duo will head to the Hogshead Pub on April 25 to charm with their retro melodies in French, English and Greek, infused with elements of jazz, swing and a nostalgic and intense Parisian style. Vive la musique!
