Eight-year-old seriously injured in Nicosia collision

An eight-year- old girl has been admitted to the children’s intensive care unit of Makarios Hospital in Nicosia with serious injuries after a traffic collision in Tseri on Monday afternoon.

The child has been intubated. Her condition is described as serious.

She and her sibling were passengers in a car driven by their mother which was involved in a collision with a car driven by a 26-year-old man. Also in the second car was a 51-year-old passenger.

The drivers and passengers of both cars were injured and taken to Nicosia Hospital where the two men were admitted for treatment. The 26-year-old man suffered a fracture while his passenger underwent surgery. His condition is described as serious but out of danger.

The eight-year-old girl was taken to Makarios Hospital where she was intubated while her mother and sibling were administered first aid and released.

Lakatamia police are investigating.
