Four men were remanded in custody for seven days on Friday as Limassol police investigate the theft of a G3 military rifle, cash, and valuables from a Limassol home.

The burglary was carried out some time between last Saturday and Monday and was reported by the owners who were away for the three days. They also reported the theft of €1800 in cash, silverware, cameras, mobile phones, pictures and other items, police said.

They added that evidence emerged against the four suspects, aged 32, 34, 20 and 18 after police found in the possession of the first three suspects property that had been stolen with the G3 from the home.

Police had stopped a car with the three men at around 12.30 noon last Tuesday and found the silverware for which the suspects could not give a satisfactory explanation. They were arrested and questioned which led to the arrest of the fourth suspect.

The owner of the home recognised the items as those that had been stolen.
