BoC and IDEA launch ‘Culture Means Business’ podcast series

Culture Means Business

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with incubator-accelerator IDEA, have launched a new podcast series: ‘Culture means Business’.

The series will focus on entrepreneurship, new tech and culture, offering listeners know-how about designing business models around interdisciplinary cultural entrepreneurship.

In the first episode in the series, which aired in the English language on March 27, Mosaic //Culture and Creativity co-founders George Sarlis and Andreas Tsirilas discussed: ‘Mapping the Cultural and Creative Industry: A Useful Tool’.

Among the episode topics discussed were:

  • Why it is crucial to map the culture and creative sector, to study and analyse the enterprises, the stakeholders, the artists and the key players?
  • Why does it have to be a dynamic process?
  • What does it offer to policymakers, and how does it help in networking and synergies?
  • How important it is to develop such a dynamic tool supporting strategising and decision-making and helping authorities design tailor-made support actions for cultural and creative professionals
  • A 2019 case study from western Greece

‘Mosaic //Culture and Creativity’ is a social enterprise established in 2018 in Patra, Greece. Its primary objective is to support cultural and social innovation and creativity by mentoring and guiding creative ideas and projects, promoting entrepreneurship and start-ups in the sector, and generating synergies between the different stakeholders, the public and private sectors.
