Exciting range of events at The Tree of Life

As a place where people come together, The Tree of Life Centre has grown into a hub for experiences and meetings. The Larnaca centre hosts a large variety of events – monthly book clubs, burlesque classes, meditation sessions, movie nights, a philosophy café, the list goes on. If you follow them on social media, it’s easy to see their frequent actions and intent to bring the community together, and now, measures permitting, more fun and alternative events are taking place this December.

On Wednesday an interactive and informative talk titled Parenting Choices and Technology will be hosted at The Tree of Life. Educational consultant, clinic psychologist and drummer Helen Argyrou will talk about parenting, the myths of easy parenting and understanding the emerging challenges in a fast-changing world. In a one-hour get-together, participants will meet at 7.30pm to discuss everything about raising and understanding children.

On the following evening, and every Thursday, a djembe drumming class will take place. Practitioner Samantha Antoniou holds drumming circles every week, inviting people to play on handmade African djembe drums, producing sounds that help overall wellbeing.

“Drumming promotes physical and emotional healing,” says Samantha, “it boosts your immune system and produces a feeling of joy and wellbeing. Also, drumming can make you smarter! When you drum you access your entire brain, this synchronises the left and right hemispheres, generating new neural pathway connections.” Her classes are suitable for any aged 12 or older, and you don’t need to own a drum. Just make sure to reserve a spot in advance.

The first two weekends of December at the Larnaca centre will welcome a Christmas special presented by the Little Muse Theatre. On December 4, 5, 11, 12 and 19, a rendition of The Polar Express will arrive at the Tree of Life to take old and young audiences on a magical journey to the North Pole. Santa Claus, a snowy train ride and the magic of Christmas will all come to life as the play entertains audiences of all ages.

In between the theatre performances comes another event that blends art and wine! The Sip & Painting evening is a bimonthly event where people are invited to gather and learn about art and painting, while sipping on wine, listening to music and making new connections. Anna T. Shipettaris, an experienced art educator, is the facilitator of this class and will be guiding participants and ensuring they get the most out of their artistic experience. Sip, paint and have fun!
