The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) on Thursday announced it has received a donation of €25,000 from the Republic of Ireland.

A statement said the donation, made on December 27, brings Ireland’s total contribution to the CMP to €425,000 since 2006.

The fund will support CMP’s project in 2023 for the exhumation, identification and return of the remains of the missing in Cyprus, with the aim of ending the uncertainty that has affected families for so many years, the statement added.

So far 1,028 missing people from both communities have been identified and returned to their families for a dignified burial.
