Tourist found dead on Ayia Napa beach

A tourist was found dead on an Ayia Napa beach on Sunday early afternoon according to Famagusta police.

Jorgen Poulsen, aged 53, from Denmark was pulled unconscious from the water at a beach in Ayia Napa around 2pm on Sunday, said Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodolou.

The man was rushed to the Famagusta general hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said the exact cause of death will be determined following the autopsy on the body that will be carried on Tuesday.

Poulsen was on holidays in Cyprus with his wife.
