Police warn about Christmas pickpockets

POLICE WILL increase patrols over the Christmas period on busy streets to deter pick-pockets, said a police statement yesterday.

According to police, the increased patrols aim to tackle the expected upturn in pick-pocketing and bag-stealing activity during the holiday period, particularly in well-frequented commercial areas and public spaces.

Police call on members of the public to take certain precautionary measures to protect their property, including keep their money and bank cards in front pockets when walking or if holding bags, not to put all their valuables in those bags, and again to make sure the bags are always in eyesight, and not hanging behind.
