Pilgrimage to Hala Sultan Tekke

Around 1,000 Turkish Cypriots are expected to cross for a pilgrimage to the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque in Larnaca on Saturday.

They will travel there on coaches, with a police escort there and back through the Ayios Dhometios crossing.

The visit is to coincide with ‘Hijri’, the first day of the Islamic calendar.

Due to the visit, the antiquities department announced that the mosque would not be open to the public from 10am to 3.30pm on Saturday.
