Paphos one of top 100 ‘most green’ destinations worldwide

Paphos has been awarded a gold medal for the quality of its coast for the period 2013-2014 and has been included in the top 20 most clean, green and in harmony with nature, sustainable destinations for holidays.
According to an announcement, based on this distinction and through a rigorous selection process by 30 international experts in sustainable tourism and open calls in the social media, Paphos was recognised as a tourist destination that has worked hard to make a difference and take sustainability seriously.
Paphos with a gold medal for the quality of its coast and a place in the greenest tourist destinations is becoming more well known for its unparalleled beauty, picturesque beaches and rich and rare vegetation with Polis Chrysochous and New Chorio.
The basic criteria for selecting the regions are the cleanliness of the water, the biodiversity of the regions and their environment, their socio-economic status, cultural heritage, lack of air pollution, noise levels, and the quality in tourist information. (CNA)
