An artistic view of the sea

Summer might not be the most popular season for exhibitions, but visit one that is entitled Abstracts and Fish of the Sea and showcases the works at the Thalassa municipal museum in Ayia Napa, and you might just change your mind.

London artist Eleni Gagoushi is currently showcasing her latest work at the Thalassa museum and will continue to do so until the end of August.

Gagoushi’s works have won over the hearts of international stars with their magical water colours on canvas. She has been praised for her originality and technique by the likes of ex world tennis champions Pat Cash, and music icons Paul Weller and Paul Young.

The artist first started painting murals in her home, but following a fire that destroyed all her artwork, she began painting on canvas for the first time and quickly received recognition from people in the art world for the way she used her creativity to create striking and mythical images.

The images she captures come from her colourful dreams. Some depict angels that are hidden in a fantasy woodland and others show mermaids. Her abstract work also comes from a fantasy world and leads the viewer on a marvellous journey.
