Pilgrimage to Hala Sultan Tekke

Worshippers at the mosque on Tuesday

Around 1,000 pilgrims from the north visited the Hala Sultan Tekke in Larnaca on Tuesday to mark the birth of the Prophet Muhamad.

The pilgrims travelled in 20 buses that were escorted by police. They arrived at the mosque at 9.30am.

Mufti of Cyprus Dr Talip Atalay said it was the third pilgrimage this year and expressed his joy that they were all able to do so.

Atalay wished the island peace and unity so that Muslims in northern Cyprus could visit the mosque whenever they desired.
