Papadopoulos fined for promoting presidential candidacy through calls

Diko leader Nicolas Papadopoulos

Diko chairman and presidential hopeful Nicolas Papadopoulos has been fined €3,200 after he was reported to the personal data commissioner for phone calls and messages promoting his candidacy without permission from the recipients.
According to a statement issued by Irini Nicolaidou, two of the complaints concerned phone calls and a third a phone call and a text message, which did not have the consent of the recipients.
Considering that the complaints in question against Papadopoulos were not the first, I have imposed fines worth €1,000, €1,000, and €1,200 respectively.
Papadopoulos’ camp was fined €2,200 late in October following three complaints regarding unauthorised phone calls and messages.
